Phil Ray

Phil is no stranger to radio life. His journey began at just 15, broadcasting from his bedroom and connecting to online radio streams. By 17, he was pestering his local commercial FM station until they let him behind the microphone! Safe to say, Phil has been hooked ever since.

Whether it’s the behind-the-scenes workings of radio, the technology that makes it all happen, or simply the sound coming out of the speakers, Phil loves every aspect of it. If there’s a studio, a microphone, or a few buttons to press, you’ll probably find him nearby!

Phil grew up in England, hence the accent, although he likes to think he has a fairly neutral one. Whether that’s actually true is up for debate… you can be the judge!

Away from the studio, Phil has a slightly eclectic mix of interests. He can often be found browsing yard sales and thrift shops (yes, really!) in search of something he absolutely didn’t need but somehow couldn’t leave behind. He’s also a big fan of the great outdoors, enjoying nature, going for walks, and even helping to tidy up the local area.

But there’s another side to Phil: rollercoasters! The bigger, higher and faster, the better. Put him on the tallest or fastest ride you can find and he’ll happily shout, “Bring it on!".

And when you can’t find Phil anywhere else, there’s a good chance he’s hiding out in his studio shed — a rather convenient escape from the daily chaos caused by his three cats. They may rule the house, but at least the shed is his… for now!
