A new survey is being launched to gather feedback from hikers across the Adirondack Forest Preserve during the 2026 hiking season. Protect the Adirondacks and researchers from SUNY Plattsburgh say the online survey will run from Memorial Day through Columbus Day weekend and will ask hikers about trail conditions, parking, crowding and their overall experience on Forest Preserve lands. Project organizers say the information will help policymakers and land managers better understand how people use the Adirondacks and identify concerns involving trail access, safety and environmental conditions. The survey is open to hikers age 18 and older and results are expected to be released by the end of the year.
