• Five Fire Districts Join Regional Training Exercise

  Up to 75 firefighters from five districts serving Plattsburgh and Schuyler Falls took part in a joint training exercise Monday night. Crews practiced ventilation, roof rescue, firefighter-down drills, hose-line advancement and search and rescue. The exercise was designed to improve communication and coordination among departments responding together during major emergencies.

• New Sculpture Installed Outside Plattsburgh Public Library

  A new welded-steel sculpture is now on display outside the Plattsburgh Public Library. A Peru-based artist donated “Limitless” to the library and dedicated it to the people of Plattsburgh. The sculpture stands beside the pollinator garden near the main entrance. Three other works by the same artist are displayed in the library’s first-floor reading room.

• SUNY Plattsburgh Observes Hazing Prevention Week

  SUNY Plattsburgh is holding Hazing Prevention Week activities through Thursday under the theme “Respect, Inclusion and Accountability.” Events include educational programs, athletic activities, giveaways and a vigil for victims of violence. Thursday’s schedule includes a program on recognizing alcohol overdose and a presentation examining how hazing can affect students’ personal and professional development.
