Paul Smith’s College Names Troops to Timber Coordinator

Paul Smith’s College has named military veteran and forestry professional Rick Rowe as coordinator of its Troops to Timber initiative. Rowe will recruit veterans and help prepare them for forestry careers through hands-on training, credentials and job placement. The program is part of the college’s expanding Battlefish Academy.

Two Troopers Hospitalized After Fiery Plattsburgh Crash

Two New York state troopers were hospitalized following a fiery chain-reaction crash in Plattsburgh early Tuesday. Police say a vehicle struck one trooper cruiser from behind while two cruisers waited for another car to turn at Rand Hill Road and Route 374. One cruiser caught fire. No serious injuries were reported.

The Little Falls Cheese Festival returns Saturday, Oct 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Main Street. The free event will feature New York cheeses, gourmet foods, craft beverages, live music and food trucks. New this year are guided cheese tastings. IRONMAN Lake Placid Returns Sunday

More than 2,600 athletes from 68 countries will compete in the IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon Sunday. The 140.6-mile race includes a swim in Mirror Lake, a 112-mile bike ride through the Adirondacks and a marathon finishing at the Olympic Oval. The first race begins shortly after 6:15 a.m.
