Two Charged After Cocaine Seized in St Lawrence County

33 year old Joshua Ladouceur and 35 year old Katelyn McCarney face felony drug possession charges after a traffic stop on County Route 6. The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office says deputies found more than four ounces of cocaine. Both were arraigned in Canton Town Court and jailed without bail.

Potsdam Fire Department Receives Community Award

The Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department has received the Heart of Potsdam Award from the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce. The honor was presented during the 2026 Potsdam Summer Fest and recognizes the department’s emergency response, community service and support of local events. Several other organizations were also nominated for their work in the community.
Potsdam School Wins Two State Agriculture Challenges

Trout and Heron Independent School in Potsdam has won first place in two statewide New York Agriculture in the Classroom contests. Students earned top honors in the Ice Cream Challenge and the Mac and Cheese Challenge. The projects combined science, nutrition and agriculture while teaching students how dairy products move from farms to tables.
Lyons Road Closed for Culvert Project

Lyons Road in Peru is closed between Rock Road and South Junction Road through Sept. 21 while crews replace a large box culvert. The closure is between house numbers 225 and 232. No through traffic will be allowed, including emergency vehicles, and drivers are being advised to use an alternate route.
Massena to Host Major League Fishing Tournament

Massena will host a three-day Major League Fishing Toyota Series tournament on the St. Lawrence River from July 30 through Aug. 1. Anglers will compete along a 27-mile stretch between the Moses-Saunders Power Dam and Iroquois Dam. Daily launches begin at 6 a.m., with weigh-ins starting at 2 p.m. at the Massena Intake Boat Launch.
