The Wilmington Town Board has approved changes to its zoning ordinance aimed at improving public notice and strengthening penalties. Hearing notices must now be mailed 15 days in advance to property owners within 600 feet, up from 10 days and 500 feet. The Planning Board may expand that distance to 1,000 feet. Land-use fines now range from $500 for a first offense to $2,000 and possible jail time for a third violation.
