Holiday Gift Chaos Tests Millennial Parents’ Patience

Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 7:02 PM

A new survey shows millennial parents face constant questioning from curious children during the holiday season. The Talker Research poll of 2,000 U.S. millennial parents found kids ask about gifts an average of 51 times throughout the holidays. Despite this challenge, 55% of parents get just as excited as their children when unwrapping presents. Nearly all parents, 98%, love the gift-opening chaos, though 48% let their coffee go cold and 44% miss calls during the festivities. To keep surprises secret, 63% disguise presents as other items, while 34% use decoy gifts. However, 55% sometimes forget where they hid gifts, with 29% having to rebuy lost presents. Parents use gifts for bribery an average of 39 times during holidays, and 56% invoke holiday characters like Santa to prevent snooping. (Story URL)
