A Talker Research poll of 2,000 U.S. travelers commissioned by Go City found Americans fit into five travel personas. Masterminds comprise 37 percent and enjoy planning trips and booking accommodations. Thrillseekers make up 26 percent and prefer exploring local environments and city tours. Connoisseurs represent 16 percent and prioritize finding great food experiences. Floaters account for 14 percent and want to see landmarks without pressure to plan. Vacay scouts total 6 percent and prepare for activities like relaxing by pools or beaches. "These five categories of travelers help establish that many of us look forward to different things when we travel," said Judy Gauthier, Go City's chief commercial officer. All groups agreed finding great food appeals most when traveling at 48 percent, and three-quarters would extend trips by one day, spending an average $1,156 for extra time. (Story URL)
