Burn Ban

The NYS burn ban is in place until May 14th according to the Department of Environmental Conservation.

The DEC reports that the annual burn ban prohibiting residential brush fires begins today and runs through May 14th.  Open burning of debris is the single-largest cause of spring wildfires in the State according to the Department of Environmental Conservation.  The burn ban has been used by the DEC since 2009 as a tool to prevent wildfires and protect communities during heightened fire conditions.
