Over the years as many as 58 NY Department of Transportation employees have died on the job. To highlight work zone safety, all roadway safety professionals across NY and the nation are encouraged to ware orange on April 23rd each year. Last year, there were 322 recorded intrusions into work zones in NY that resulted in 138 injuries and two deaths according to the Department of Transportation.
