Halloween is the deadliest day for pedestrians under the age of 18 says the traffic safety committee.
State Police and local law enforcement will maintain increased patrols through Halloween, targeting impaired and reckless drivers. Motorists can expect several sobriety checkpoints and additional DWI patrols during this time. In addition to targeting impaired drivers, police will also be looking for drivers that are distracted or speeding. During last year’s initiative, law enforcement officers issued over 46,000 citations, arrested more than 1,260 drivers for impaired driving and ticketed 9,029 drivers for speeding.
