Cooling centers are available in the area during extreme heat periods.
The National Weather Service is forecasting extreme heat through at least Wednesday across New York State. Today, “feels-like” temperatures will be 95-100 degrees in the North Country with overnight temperatures ranging from 70-85 degrees. Tomorrow, high temperatures will feel like 85-100 degrees. If you need a place to cool off the Department of Health has listed some designated Cooling Centers. These are air-conditioned places for the public to cool down during extreme heat. Some of the centers in Clinton County include: The Beekmantown Town Park and Pavilion on Spellman Road, Champlain Centre Mall in Plattsburgh and several libraries to include Plattsburgh, Peru, Champlain, Chazy and Dannemora.
