Heat Advisory

Cooling centers are available in the area during extreme heat periods.

The National Weather Service is forecasting extreme heat through at least Wednesday across New York State.  Today, “feels-like” temperatures will be 95-100 degrees in the North Country with overnight temperatures ranging from 70-85 degrees.  Tomorrow, high temperatures will feel like 85-100 degrees.  If you need a place to cool off the Department of Health has listed some designated Cooling Centers.  These are air-conditioned places for the public to cool down during extreme heat. Some of the centers in Clinton County include: The Beekmantown Town Park and Pavilion on Spellman Road, Champlain Centre Mall in Plattsburgh and several libraries to include Plattsburgh, Peru, Champlain, Chazy and Dannemora.  The Red Cross has a number you can call to get Cooling Center locations near you 561-7280.
