By John Shearer

Until recently, the last update to the NY endangered list was last completed in 1999.

The Department of Environmental Conservation decided to update the endangered species list using the adoption of new regulations.  Some of the species added include: Fat Pocketbook Mollusks, the Southern Grizzled Skipper and the loggerhead shrike.  The comprehensive list includes species that are found, have been found or may in the future be found in New York State.
