NY Judged Among Best for Hiking

An annual ranking of hiking trails in the United State has New York State ranked as one of the best.

New York placed in the top ten of the Kuru Footwear annual ranking of best states for hiking in 2025. North Country Assemblyman, Matt Simpson, highlighted the seventh place ranking on social medial by saying “From the Adirondack Park to the Lake George Area, to the Catskills and beyond, there is a trail for everyone here in our great state!” 38 percent of trails in NY were given a favorable rating of 4.5 stars or higher according to the Kuru ranking.
