The income tax filing season is underway according the the State Department of Taxation and Finance.
The State Tax Department and the IRS begin accepting and processing income tax returns today. Unless an extension is requested, people who are required to file have until midnight on April 15th to get their tax return in. Many New Yorkers are eligible to file State and federal returns at no cost using Free File. Information is available on the Tax Department’s website.
