Firefighters arrived at a fourth-floor apartment building to find a small fire in one room. They rescued the tortoise and a small dog hiding under the stairs. Officials determined that the blaze was ignited when the tortoise toppled its heat lamp, causing it to fall onto combustible hay in its aquarium.
