Michigan Resident Believed Police Calls Were A Scam

Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 8:00 PM

A Michigan resident who lost $5,000 in cash believed police attempts to contact them were a scam. A trooper found the funds in the middle of Monroe's Huber Road on Friday, and a local bank confirmed that a customer recently took out that exact amount. Unfortunately, when police attempted to call the suspected owner, they were ignored. "The subject must have been listening to our public service announcements on being a victim of fraud and believed he was being scammed and hung up on the trooper several times," a social media post read. Fortunately, the person was eventually convinced that there was a real officer with their money on the other end of the line. (UPI)
