The Adirondack North Country Association and Clarkson University have received a federal grant to expand composting education and food waste reduction efforts across the North Country. The USDA Rural Business Development Grant will support training for local “compost catalysts” who will help organize projects and outreach programs in St. Lawrence, Franklin, Essex, and Clinton counties. Organizers say the goal is to keep more food waste out of landfills while supporting healthier local food systems.
