A 31 year old Lake Placid man is now facing a felony charge after a traffic stop last month led to an investigation into a fraudulent motorcycle license plate. Police say Gavin W. McCarthy was pulled over April 9 for a suspected vehicle and traffic violation. Investigators later determined the plate attached to the motorcycle was forged. McCarthy was arrested late last week and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree. He was arraigned in Lake Placid Village Court and released pending a future court appearance.
