The New York State Assembly has formed a working group to review the state’s sexual assault laws following allegations reported at Cornell University. The 14-member panel will examine concerns about existing laws and recommend possible changes. Its recommendations are due before the end of the year, giving lawmakers time to consider them during the 2027 legislative session. Assembly leaders say the review is intended to strengthen protections and help sexual assault victims obtain justice.
