New York State has finalized its “30 by 30” conservation strategy aimed at protecting 30 percent of the state’s lands and waters by the year 2030. The plan outlines how the state will identify and preserve open space while supporting climate resilience and natural resources. State officials say more than 23 percent of New York land and water is already protected. Recent projects include new state forests, expanded parkland and conservation easements across the Adirondacks, Catskills and other regions of the state.
