A 57 year old Peru woman has been jailed after authorities say she repeatedly violated probation stemming from an animal cruelty and forgery case. Hilary A. Davis was sentenced in January 2025 to five years of felony probation, including restrictions on possessing animals and leaving Clinton County. Prosecutors say she later traveled outside the county without permission and was found with unauthorized dogs and cats. Davis was charged with a second probation violation this month and was remanded to the Clinton County Jail following an August 10 court appearance.
