Governor Kathy Hochul says New York State has now invested more than 400 million dollars to combat harmful algal blooms in lakes and waterways statewide. The state is also launching a new 2 POINT 5 million dollar research grant program aimed at improving water quality and public health. Environmental officials say the funding will support new studies and projects designed to reduce algae outbreaks and protect drinking water, recreation areas and local economies.
