Researchers at the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake have received major federal grants to continue work on new tuberculosis treatments. Dr. Michaelle Chojnacki was awarded more than 3 million dollars in National Institutes of Health funding to study compounds that could shorten treatment times and fight drug-resistant tuberculosis. The institute traces its tuberculosis research roots back 142 years to Dr. Edward Livingston Trudeau, who helped pioneer treatment efforts in the Adirondacks.
