The late state budget is expected to be approved soon. Several items have already been voted on.

While the NY State budget is still a work in progress, some parts are in place.  One such spending measure is a multi-billion dollar allocation to eliminate the unemployment trust fund debt.  During the pandemic businesses had to lay off employees as they were forced to shut down by the state.  According to Assemblyman Billy Jones, that caused unemployment insurance rates to increase even for businesses who didn't have layoffs.  He said that was unjust and has been pushing for the state to provide dept relief to rectify the situation.
