An Assemblyman from Long Island has taken over the Minority Leadership role in the NY State Assembly.
Assemblyman Ed Ra of Long Island was selected as Minority Leader yesterday. He’s a native of Long Island and was first elected to the Assembly in 2010. Ra said he is ready to move forward with the support of his colleagues. North Country Assemblyman Matt Simpson said “as a longtime ranking member on the Ways and Means Committee, Ed has been a strong voice against wasteful spending. Ra assumes the leadership role from William Barclay of Pulaski who stepped down last week and said he would not seek re-election to the Assembly in September.
