The first meeting of the NY-Canada Task Force with Chair Michael Cashman was held this week in Albany.
The first meeting of the Task Force on New York–Canada Relations for the 2026 legislative session, brought together Task Force members and senior Canadian and Québec officials for discussions on shared cross-border priorities. Topics of the meeting focused on key issues impacting both sides of the border, including border traffic and trade flow, tariff impacts, industrial and workforce needs, and cross-border energy cooperation. Chair of the Task Force, Assemblymember Cashman, said “The engagement reflects the seriousness of our shared commitment to collaboration and problem-solving.”
