An effort to bring the Olympics back to NY may be gaining traction according to backers of the idea.
Former Assemblyman Billy Jones wants to see the Olympics back in New York. Several months ago, he and an Assemblyman in Brooklyn floated the idea of having the games in Lake Placid and New York City. In a just released statement Jones he said he’s encouraged by the ongoing games in Italy. He said, “as the Winter Olympics enters its second week in Italy, and the dual-region model has proven to be successful, the case for exploring a Lake Placid and NYC Olympics partnership should be explored now more than ever.” Jones said he has “been in the brainstorming and conceptual stages of planning this for over two years and it has gained traction and support from many NYC and Lake Placid partners.”
