More pediatric deaths from the flu were recorded this season in NY than ever before.
Twenty-five influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported in NY this flu season. According to the State Department of Health, that's the highest number ever recorded in New York State. Nationally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report there were 216 pediatric deaths, which is the highest number in 15 years. State Health Commissioner, Dr. James McDonald, blames the numbers on declining vaccination rates due to, what he referred to as, "Misinformation" about vaccines.
