A bipartisan group of legislators is urging the Governor to bolster funds for road repair in state budget.
North Country Assemblyman Matt Simpson joined a bipartisan, coalition of legislators urging the governor to give the CHIPS program priority consideration in this year’s state budget. The program funds road repairs. Simpson noted that in addition to regular roadwork, requirements to add EV school buses will cause additional and more costly construction due to greater axle loads of these vehicles. Assemblyman Simpson said “While we support cleaner transportation, Albany must account for these realities and provide adequate funding to prevent massive burdens on local taxpayers in the Adirondacks and statewide.
