No injuries were reported after a boat caught fire Saturday on Lake Champlain near the southeast side of Valcour Island. The occupants were transferred to a nearby bystander’s boat before emergency crews arrived. The vessel was considered a total loss. Fire departments and law enforcement agencies from New York and Vermont responded, along with the Coast Guard and Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

    SUNY Plattsburgh says its ACE program is improving academic performance for first-generation and Pell Grant-eligible students.
