Human-bear contact in residential areas increases in the Spring.

It's time to secure outdoor food sources that may attract bears such as bird feeders and garbage cans according to the Department of Environmental Conservation.  The potential for human-bear conflicts in residential areas increases in the spring especially before green-up when natural food sources for bears are scarce says DEC big game biologist Brendan Quirion.
